Some might keep calling Bali a paradise, but we all know where the true paradise is – the Gili islands of course! The water is clearer, the wind is saltier, the sun is mellower and the palms are taller in Gili, or so it seems. It’s also quieter, as there are no motorbikes or dogs around. Well, it won’t be that quiet at the end of March, guys, as the annual Air Festival is coming to Gili Air island again, #sorrynotsorry. This boutique dancing festival is a traveling circus, sort of: they are bringing 20 international DJs, an avid party tribe as a loyal following and quite a few boxes of fairy lights ? ‘Cause it’s all about creating some magic: there will be tents, and barefoot dancing under the moonlight, and midnight skinny dipping in shallow waters, and all the elements of a summer camp, only with the adult musiс and other, umm, delights of being a fully grown-up (at least by your ID).
What we love about this fest is their effort to stay eco-conscious: they follow the “Leave No Trace” concept, meaning that it’s not your average festival mess with piles of garbage left stomped into the soil after the party crowd leaves but quite opposite: they try to minimize the damage and this year the agenda is to keep the event 100% plastic-free zone. BYO cocktail bucket and bamboo drinking straws! ?
Now, after we’ve talked important stuff, let’s talk about all the fun things! Imagine dancing on the sand drifting from one intimate dancefloor to another, meeting old friends and making the new ones, counting the stars and greeting the sunrise – all with the live soundtrack of the cool beats. Get your best bikini, your feathers and your mermaid tail ready, it’s gonna be a party to remember!
We could write more, but we rather let the pictures tell the story. Sail away with us!
