TOUR DE FRANCE

It’s new, it’s French, it’s oh-la-la-so-cute – the brand new Sofia spa has landed in Berawa! We might have just enough specialty coffee spots, vegan-friendly cafes and shops selling riped-off singlets here in Canggu but more spas definitely won’t hurt the hood. So when we’ve heard there is a new expat-owned beauty den in Jl.Pantai Berawa, we were knocking on their doors right away! The owner is beautiful, tall and slender French lady – oh you know those French women, they always look so effortlessly gorgeous that you start seriously questioning what is wrong with yourself ? – and the skin care world is her oyster. After years of doing the spa consulting work for some serious spas, she’s decided to open her own little beauty parlor, which made her loyal clients froth and line up. And we can totally relate: the moment you step into this sweetest beauty den, you fell in love. It’s just too cute to handle! Set in the traditional teak wood joglo, the treatment rooms are spotless white, with crispy sheets, comfy pillows and decor objects you wish you could discreetly take home with you – like that oversized knitted wall piece, for instance. You kinda connect the dots and come to the conclusion that if they managed to make the space look so pretty, they probably will be able to do so with your face too. Call us naive but this logic works for us ?

And in this particular case, our intuition didn’t let us down. Sofia’s menu is small but powerful – basically, it’s all about facials, with a hint of bodyworks like intuitive massage and organic waxing. We’re suckers for all things facial, so we went for the “Soft Lifting Effect” ritual and it was heavenly: the cleansing with the custom-made products packed with purest aloe vera, the angelic lymphatic massage, the light therapy and ultrasound – you know, those modern aesthetic technologies that are non-invasive, 200% safe and make you look radiant without any injections. Truth to be told, we’ve slept through 2/3 of the treatment which is an amazing sign as well – a carefree nap only added to that post-treatment glow. We demand that kind of pampering every week!
