Bali is changing, and it’s changing fast so it’s nice to have some anchors that can help you keep rooted in this madness. Anchors like MonsieurSpoon‘s buttery, sinfully good croissants that have been there for you at any moment of your island life, in happiness and sadness. New exciting date, after-yoga catch-up, gloomy morning mood fix, afternoon pick-me-up, informal business meeting – somehow, the coffee and croissant combo has always been a good idea, whatever the situation was. Also, meeting at the bakery the “spoons” themselves, cheeky cousins Rafi and Greg, has been another “anchor” for us – if you’ve been around for a few years, for sure made friends with them same as we did. Those Frenchies are just contagious (and yes, Rafi, you’re in charge of our muffin tops and second chin). Don’t even start us on their lemon meringue tarts and anything featuring dark chocolate – it’s overwhelming and we simply can’t control ourselves!
Yes, that was a love letter. We’re just happy to see those guys growing – from the humble blackboard saying “Hot croissants” in the middle of then empty Batu Bolong road to the Flour&Butter Empire with yet another outlet – this time in the middle of the most happening street of Seminyak (read our guide to its crazy nightlife here!) Welcome to Petitenget, chèrie Monsieur Spoon!
This new spot is more than a bakery. Of course, they have an impressive display featuring all their signature baked goods but there is also a brand new lunch/brunch menu with a melt-in-your-mouth steak, crunchy cordon blue chicken, tender snapper fillet and some delicious salads, all with a touch of French magic ?
And them – ohhh, inhale-exhale! – there is a brand new desert menu, available at the Petitenget outlet only. If you’re a sweet tooth person, brace yourself: picking just one will be more that challenging, it’s gonna be a torture. The caramel-laced apple tart tatin, the lavish dark chocolate lava cake, the original creme brulee and THAT chocolate mousse (um, we won’t give you any spoilers, just order it!) Our bodies say ‘gym’, but our bellies say ‘Monsieur spoon’! ?
