It’s that silly time of the year in Bali, you know: the malls’ dynamics play Let it snow while you’re squeezing into that daring bikini in the fitting room, the Starbucks outlets are decorated with snowflakes and offer their seasonal “warming” specials to the sweating customers wearing board shorts …in other words, it’s all ridiculously Xmas-sy, but you are in some sort of denial, ‘cause – c’mon, it’s 40C outside, Santa simply won’t make it here!
But then one day it hits you: damn, Christmas is happening this week! Panic attack: presents! nothing to wear! where to celebrate?! Because you know, you can easily pretend Xmas is so not happening…but only till it’s December 23d and you have one day to decide whether you really want to spend the upcoming night and the following day with no particular celebration plan. We bet you don’t, so we’ve checked with The Canggu Club guys on what they are plotting – and turned out they are ears-deep in making your Xmas and New Year celebrations truly merry. We’ve planned it all for you, read on!
THE WET XMAS
Get your family ready: your kids, your visiting in-laws, everyone – together you gonna make a bigger splash! But first things first: Xmas is all about sharing delicious festive food, right? Nobody wants to slave away in the kitchen in the summer heat, though, so a sumptuous traditional buffet lunch is a great option for the whole family: there is something for everyone, even if the food preferences in your family vary from paleo diet to strict veganism. After you’re done with your roast and other treats, time to head to Splash – those slides won’t slide themselves! Have fun splashing around but keep your eyes open: Santa might pop up just about anytime. Stay for the whole afternoon and then enjoy the Starlight Movies and S’mores. You can’t complain about spending your Xmas in tropics, really!
Lunch is served from noon, RP900K nett per adult (RP600K for CC members, and even less for the little ones)
THE NEW YEAR ‘S EVE AT THE BEACH
If you’re staying in Canggu for the last night of 2016, Finns Beach Club is your ultimate party destination: their New Year’s Eve Party is strictly adults only with five hours of late night fun from 10pm till 3am. It’s free entry for everyone but a minimum F&B spend applies, the amount depending on how close you want to be to the center of the action, whether it be daybed, booth or bar. Dancers, DJs, fireworks, stilt walkers and world class entertainment continues into the wee hours so you can bring in the New Year Bali style at the hottest new venue on the island. DIY champagne showers! Dancing barefoot till blisters on your soles! Don’t forget your swimmers – we can guarantee you’ll need them.
THE NEW BEGGININGS
Now we all know that a few too many bubbly beverages from the night before can be a cause for that little fogginess the following morning (no surprises here). Here is the best way to clear your head: a recovery pool party back at Finns on New Year’s Day! An all ages affair, this time the whole family can join the fun from midday until midnight. Once again it’s free entry for everyone with daybeds, booths and lounge areas requiring the predetermined minimum spend. The little ones can have heaps of fun in the best pool in Canggu while the “bigger kids” are fixing their heads at the pool bar. Then the DJ starts spinning the disco tunes and here we go again – put your hands up in the air, the 2016 might be over but who said the party can’t go on?
